MEMORY UPGRADE

hi,based on previous advice regarding my acer aspire 1703sc i have not upgraded the processor but instead opted for memory upgrade to 2 x1gb crucial ram both mem tested as ockay.However whilst unit will work fine with only 1gb installed it will not operate with 2gb installed (2gb being the max this unit can accept) previously this unit did run on 1.5 gb. i am looking for any suggestions on this conumdrum,thankyou.

Try cpuz, a small file, for system info, including the memory. It will tell you how much ram is being detected. Windows may require a refresh to detect the full amount; never had this issue with windows 7, so I'm not sure how to refresh the system info. Are both sticks of crucial identical? Or did you keep an old stick and mix it with a different one?
