I'm putting together a new computer for a friend, who has a $650 budget (not including the hard drive, which he already has). Here are the parts I've chosen:

ASRock H61M/U3S3 LGA 115 motherboard - $80

Core i5-2400 cpu - $190

PowerColor AX6850 1GBD5-DH Radeon HD 6850 1GB - $170

G.Skill DDR3 1333 4 GB memory - $43

Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500W psu - $60

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX mid tower case - $60

DVD burner - $20

=====
TOTAL: $623

How does this build look? His requirements for a computer are mainly something that can handle Starcraft II perfectly, and play some more intensive games at an okay level. I'm aware that the CPU is superior to the graphics, but he plans add a second graphics card to Crossfire them in a couple years if necessary.

Looks alright, not sure why you would want a quadcore CPU for Starcraft though since, like most games, it only really makes use of 2.

You could step down to a cheaper motherboard, a dual core AMD CPU and get a much better graphics card, which would improve Starcraft 2 framerates considerably.

GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2 motherboard - $50
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition cpu - $90
G.Skill DDR3 1333 4 GB memory - $43
Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500W psu - $60
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX mid tower case - $60
DVD burner - $20

Galaxy GTX570 1280MB - $330 after rebate

Total: $653

$3 over budget, but hey, he gets a GTX570 :D
