Hey,

I am looking to get a new PSU as I think with my current rig (see sig) my PSU is maxed out and is making an annoying whine when I game.

Here are three options:

Antec True Power New 750W:
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-antec-truepower-new...

Corsair CMPSU-750AXUK Professional Series Gold AX 750W:
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-corsair-pro-gold-ax...

SeaSonic X760 SS-760KM:
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/760w-seasonic-x760-ss-76...!

I think the second two are basically the same model tho.

Anyway, which is better, have I missed a glaringly obvious bargain? I am from the UK so prices are in pounds but I dont mind being recommended stuff in dollars.

- Thanks

The Antec is easily the best bargain from those three. You don't need that much power for your system.

Why not this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/520w-antec-high-current-... ?

SHOCK!

I only need a 520w PSU?? So looking at that PSU, it delivers 40A to power the GPU, CPU, MOBO and HDD's? Hmm, maybe my current PSU isn't making a noise because its maxed out, maybe its too hot or something.

I can see that the Antec I linked is a great bargain, the only reason I hold off is that I have read from one review that there is some instability in the 5V rail and its a little noisy at load. Efficiency is also a big factor for me, where again, the antec is not great.

Also, I am interested in the XFX card linked, I have heard those models are pretty good :D

XFX 750w Black Edition :)  Great PSU, Great Price, 80PLUS Silver Rating. Nuff said ;-)

My PC case is the CoolerMaster ATCS 840, so not a high airflow case at all.

My current PSU started to whine when I installed my GTX570, which ejects heat into the case. Initially I thought it was over powered but after browsingtheworld's post I am thinking maybe its just getting too hot?

Your case is in my opinion a high air flow case, after all it has 3 x 230mm fans, when you say whine what exactly do you mean ?

True it does have 3 x 230mm fans but honestly there is no strength to the air flow. The front fan is a) blocked by a front section to the case and b) is slow, so basically dumps air onto the front of the case, there is no force to the flow. By putting my had in the case, I cant feel a thing. It is quiet tho :)

Well, my PSU at idle is silent and when I had my old card (4870 1GB) it was silent on load. As soon as I installed my GTX570, when I game it screeches at me. Not a fan/airflow noise but more of a high pitched electrical buzz.

your psu may be entirely capable in new working condition, but it doesnt mean it hasnt developed a fault like a bad capacitor or something.

your psu is kinda average not terrible but i think the psu is just faulty and struggling to keep up

and yeah a decent 750 watt psu will handle sli gtx 570's easily

the original manufacturer is fsp who are know for a whole lot of average or below average, their newest line the aurum gols serie alsoin the be quiet dark power pro series are their best psu's to date anything other then a handfull exceptions are average fsp offerings

Wow that is a good price for that PSU brand and size, hmmm didn't see that before :S

Looks like that might be the one. I guess I dont need 750w but it means more possibilities if I ever want to upgrade, or go SLI or something and tbh, that PSU you linked is as cheap as most of the 550w-600w PSU's anyway.

go for the xfx 650w or 750w modular mentioned above. they are made by seasonic and are superb quality at a great price. No point in taking a risk with coolermaster if you can get such a good seasonic made psu.

cool I will probably go for that one than gonna read a couple of reviews first tho :p , cheers guys.

Yes, I know the hx series are good, heard they were pretty loud though. It will be a big no no if this XFX PSU is said to be loud also.
