2 Internet connections

I am connected to the internet through my home network via wifi but I can also connect to the internet by tethering my phone with an app called pdanet. I was wondering if it is possible/beneficial to use both internet connections at the same time. If so, is there a way to direct traffic through one or the other manually. For instance, have online gaming use one connection and use the other connection for miscellaneous web browsing.
