I just completed my first ever build and the computer appears to be booting up properly with the exception of a rather loud continous clicking noise from my psu. I did have to mount this psu upside down as it is bottom mounting and my case does not have a vent at the bottom. Is this a sign that something is wrong with the psu?

What other information would be helpful?

Yes it means the fan isn't working properly since it should be silent. If it persists you will have to RMA.

Awesome news :)  It couldn't be because I mounted it upside down?

Will I hurt the computer if I am ok with the sound? I just checked and it is going to cost $15 to ship it back and then I have to wait for it to get to california and back!

I want to avoid this as much as possible. Anything else I can check? Are there any stickers/ plastic that I should have removed to your knowledge?

It's pretty easy to tell. Just run your computer with the side open and stick your head next to it.

A noisy fan might fail on you later.

Why would you get a SeaSonic if it's not silent?

are you sure you didnt drop something in the psu? take the psu out and shake it around incase something has fallen in there.

I did move the unit all around and in different positions and the clicking did not stop. I also tried to move the fan manually with a screw driver and it does not freely spin, there appears to be somthing sticking.

I have put in back in the box and am going to send it back. Damn, went with Seasonic because of the great reviews and quality... figures.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Seasonic basically manufactures the best PSUs, but even they have issues once in a while.

It appears you ordered your PSU from Newegg.com. Call customer support and tell them the issue you have.

I recently ordered an IOGear wireless keyboard, but it was missing the battery cover. Newegg offered to mail me a pre-paid shipping sticker so that I can ship the keyboard back to Newegg without costing me a penny. I ultimately decided to call IOGear to ask them to send me the missing battery cover instead (for free). I should be getting it soon.

It's funny that you say that as I did some additional checking after first requesting the RMA and saw some comments about calling newegg, so I did. They sent me a free return shipping label and are overnighting a new PSU with the contingency that I return the old psu within 30 days. They are really the best company to purchase stuff from.

Thanks alot for the feedback jaguarskx. Hopefully I will be up and running by tomorrow night!

So newegg is sending the psu but it is not going to get her until after the three day weekend :( . I was thinking.... do you think I can use the psu during this break to install windows and other things while I wait for the replacement part? Would it be ok if i kept the case open and the psu unmounted while i do this or is it safer to just wait?
