I am so frustrated right now….

Asus P9X79 Pro
2x 80g Maxtor hard drives
Windows 7 Ultimate

I cannot get Windows to load. I get an error saying that I do not have the CD/DVD drivers for my optical device and that I should install them.

According to reports across this means that I need to install IRST drivers. So I followed all the directions on how to make the USB version of the floppy disk to install drivers. Every try takes ten minutes or so then it give me an error message saying that device driver could not be installed.

So after scouring the Webs I have gone through the majority of the troubleshooting and have tried all of the solutions that have been presented that I was able to understand enough to complete. I still have a sweet gaming machine without an OS. I went so far as to attempt to install Windows XP 32bit. This gave me BSOD saying that there was an error, or viruses on my hard drives. I have swapped out the optical drives as well as the hard drives. I have tried very configuration that I could think of, one hard drive IDE (plugged into SATA but BIOS set to IDE), two drives IDE, two drives AHCI, different SATA ports, two drive raid…so on and so on. I keep running into the same trouble.

So what should I do next? Any ideas? I will provide specific information if needed, just didn’t think the type of video card or ram matters for this particular type of issue.

Welcome to Tom's Forum! :)

READ my post - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/303873-30-wont-resume-sleep-booted-raid#t2068879

More info see - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/308018-30-dual-channel-memory-2011-asus-p9x79-deluxe

Simply the easiest method is to make a USB Flash Drive installer, you'll need a 4GB or larger Flash Drive.

I am thinking about making a Sticky. Assuming the goal is RAID 0 with the 2x80GB SSD's then BIOS must be set to RAID and the (2) SSD's paired via Intel (Ctrl + I), disconnect any storage drives. Read my post carefully, and post any questions.

Good Luck! :)
