Help!! my dell system is making loud noise and doesn't boot up

need help guys,

today, my dell dimension 4550 is making loud noise when i turn it on. i see the power light lits up, but i have no signal on the monitor. also, my keyboard and optical mouse does not light up.

normally, the optical mouse has red light underneath and the keyboard has those green lights on the num lock, scroll lock, etc.

but today, nothing. no light, no signal and system is making a very loud sound (like really loud fan noise).

is my pc dead? power supply dead? hard drive?

how do i diagnose this issue?

Turn it OFF and re-boot. Observe carefully for what type of noises you are hearing. It is quite possible that the CPU heatsink fan is bad. This will prevent the computer from booting. Let us know what happens when you re-boot.

well, i opened up the computer, used a whole can of air compressor and removed a tons of dirt from inside.

powered on, and the pc is running as it should now. and really quiet too.

my kids probably abused this thing pretty good.

Great! It helps to place the computer off the floor. Usually, floor located computers tend to collect a lot more dust than table located computers.
