Hi everyone, I have a problem with my system but I have no idea what is causing it, and I'm hoping you can advise me.

This was my old system:
Motherboard - Asus P5N-D
RAM - 4GB Corsair DDR2 (800MHz)
PSU - Unknown brand, 450 W
Graphics - NVidia 8800 GT
CPU - Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz

I bought a new graphics card and PSU, so my system now looks like this:
Motherboard - Asus P5N-D
RAM - 4GB Corsair DDR2 (800MHz)
PSU - Corsair TX650W V2
Graphics - EVGA GTX 580 (standard)
CPU - Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz

As part of the upgrade, I flashed the BIOS, upgrading it to the latest version available on the Asustek website (P5N-D BIOS 1401)

The problem is when I turn the computer on after a long time, such as in the morning or coming back home after work, the BIOS POST will fail. It starts up, shows the BIOS splash screen, then attempts to move on to the next screen but reboots instead. It then halts and tells me that the POST has failed, I should go into setup and load defaults. (F1 to continue, Del to enter setup)

Whether I continue or reset defaults, I then boot to Windows and sometimes, just after logging in, there will be another restart. (Not a BSOD, there are no dumps or event logs)

After that, everything's fine! I can play games, run benchmarks, stress test, and there are no more restarts, everything is smooth. It's just the initial startup and initial login to windows.

I've reset the BIOS to defaults several times. I also took the CMOS battery out for a few minutes to reset everything and tried it again, the problem is still there. I'm not overclocking anything, everything is at the defaults.

What could be causing this? I'd appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips so that I can figure out what's wrong. If I've left any info out, please let me know.

I got some more info, hoping this will help.

Here is the exact message I get after the first self-restart.

These are the voltages I observed in BIOS:

VCore: 1.24-1.28V
3.3V: 3.21-3.23
5V: 4.97V
121v: 12.03V

I also heard about something called Vdroop, but I didn't see any option in the P5ND Bios that talks about adjusting Vdroop. Could that be causing this?

What is the voltage settings for your RAM. I had some that wanted 2.1V (dominator) but my mobo defaulted to 1.9, and had POST problems.

Try upping the Volts (marginally) on your RAM, NB and CPU. if it doesn't help don't keep going as going OTT can blow stuff.
