Hi!

I'm getting ready to upgrade my PSU and I just need some help regarding this issue.

I've got a Delta Electronics 400 W PSU currently, and my system always seems to be loud even when I'm not doing anything intensive. Apparently I have the "reccomended" PSU for my 9800 GT graphics card. But I'm kind of concerned it may overheat.

I'm looking at upgrading to a 600 W or higher but I need to know what's overkill or what would be the best for my system.

My CPU is the following if you need that information;

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz.

I was also kind of thinking about upgrading my graphics card so I feel like I may need the PSU regardless of it currently needs it.

Anyways any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Solution

A 600 Watt PSU like the Corsair Gaming Series CMPSU-600G with its single +12 Volt rail continuous current rating of 48 Amps is enough to power a single GeForce GTX 580 or Radeon HD 6970 graphics card system.
