P9x79 pro bios update

Hello, does anyone know what to rename the latest bio file too for bios update..

p9x79.rom
p9x79p.rom

i know it has to be renamed but no info anywhere,, thanks.......

The 'correct' name is contained in the top directory of your ASUS DVD that came with your MOBO. Load the DVD and look for the <file_name.ROM> file.

The only time this is needed is if you're using ASUS BIOS Flashback - http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1142-How-to-use-ASUS-ROG-USB-BIOS-Flashback

If the MOBO can Post then IMO use the ASUS EZ Flash 2 - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/289507-30-what-flash ; note my post in the thread.

this is the file i downloaded from asus website, P9X79-PRO-ASUS-0906.ROM , its a newer version than what i have.....

support cd says

P9x79PRO.ROM

so do i rename the newer file..P9X79-PRO-ASUS-0906.ROM.. the same as the support cd file named..P9x79PRO.ROM

thanks alot for any help.......i know there are a few ways to reflash,,, tried with the file i downloaded,,it said did not match the file image.......

YES - ASUS BIOS Flashback - rename to P9x79PRO.ROM

Doesn't Matter - ASUS EZ Flash 2 - your choice to rename, but won't hurt.
