CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Deep discount (always makes me leery) ends today.
I read somewhere that the TX model wasn't as good as HX, but didn't really say if TX was still plenty good or not.

Combined with 2500K OC to ~4.5ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 2 HD, DVD RW. Gaming system

I want the PSU to last for a long time, 5+ years, so just dont want to cheap out and have to replace. But if its good, then good.

Thank you

Oh yeah, right now I have a case that houses PSU in the bottom, but may or may not replace with one that has PSU on top. Is this something I need to factor into PSU selection?

Cheaper and gold.

That's the V1 that's like 3 years old. It's still good but there are much better PSUs for the price now including the V2.

The case configuration doesn't matter. You can make a case out of a cardboard box and have the PSU just setting outside if you wanted to.

Why are you considering the recently discontinued model?

The CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W replaces the model you linked to. It is lower in price, is more efficient and has better electrical noise and ripple suppression than the old model it replaces.

JonnyGURU's review of the Corsair TX750 V2 750W :

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=...

There should be ventilation holes on the bottom of your case where the PSU is mounted. The PSU's fan would be facing down towards the vent holes. This is intentional to isolate the PSU's air flow from disturbing the chassis' airflow. The cooling air for the PSU would be pulled in from under the chassis by the downward facing fan and exit out the back of the PSU.

Stay away from RAIDMAX RX-850AE. Those Andyson made PSUs' 80 PLUS GOLD Certified efficiency claims are bogus according to HardOCP’s test review of its RX-1000AE 1000W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified sibling.

Efficiency is very low on the list of what's important for a PSU after voltage regulation, ripple, and noise. Even if it was Bronze it would be a better deal since it's modular.

Exactly the same thing can be said about a PSU being modular. Being modular is not a necessity it's a luxury. It doesn't make a power supply perform better than its non-modular counterpart.
