Hello, I've just got a quick question. I've got the Intel i5 760 and it's overclocked too 3.6GHz, I was looking at the i5 2500k and thought that would be cool to get.
Is it worth me getting the 2500k, or would I just be wasting my money on something that I don't need for another couple of years.

Thanks.

Are you getting less than satisfactory peformance for your current applications?

For most people, that upgrade is definitely not worthwile and completely wasteful. But it depends on what you are using your system for, and what the rest of your specs are.

At 3.6 your getting roughly the performance of sandy bridge at 3.2-3.3. I personally think(unless you have extra money to burn or your rich) skipping at lease one generation is the way to go. I would wait for Ivy Bridge minimum, and Haswell ideally for a true worthwhile upgrade. That's assuming you stay with Intel.
