looking at upgrading my 6870 and going with a 6970.. i had a xfx 5770 before and the voltage was unlocked for over clocking. i then upgraded to a his 6870 but the voltage was locked.. now i want to get a 6970 but im just wondering which companies have the voltage unlcocked.

They all will have unlocked voltage, but the only ones that have that ability right now is ASUS. Their software, which only works with their card, has the ability to overvolt now. I'm not sure it's something you want to do, or need to do, however. They already have a new Power feature built into CCC.

oh wow it works. i guess i had an older msi after burner. it did not allow me to change the voltage. even with changing the value from 0 to 1 in the reg file or what ever it is.. i was reading all over the net and everyone was flashing there bios. they said the his cards were locked lol. mint thanks.

so if i get an xfx or sapphire 6970 i cant over volt it until they release a newer msi after burner?

Yes, assuming it's added then, but it is expected to be.

PsychoSaysDie: I have Afterburner Beta 7 and it only allows my 6970 to go up to 1.3V. Do you know how Guru3D managed to get the program to allow a voltage up to 1.5V? Is the allowed voltage higher on the 6870 than the 6970? It looks like 1.35V is the sweet spot for the 6870.
