Hello all,

I am having some issues with gaming performance on my DV6. There are two (likely related) issues that I have found.

1. When playing a game, the graphics are ok at first, but the video gets increasingly choppy. I tested this in Counterstrike Source on the stress test. The test started smoothly, but got choppy quickly. My laptop usually completes the test at an average of 176 fps, today it was 16. :(

2. The decreased performance continues for a little while after I close the game. (browser windows take for ever to to open. etc.)

I couple of notes.

* My fan used to get really loud when I played games. It never goes above a quiet hum now.

* I connect my laptop to a 24" 1080p monitor when I play games.

Thank you for your help! I am thinking of reinstalling my video drivers, but I thought I would check here as well.

I figured it out, and I feel like an idiot.

I have a separate power setting for, er, something that needs my computer to stay on at night in a low power state with the hard disks on but the screen off.... I forgot to switch it off the setting...

That explains the fan and the graphics. Who would have thought... :)
