I'm going to build my first computer and I could use all the help I can get. I was hoping you guys could take a look at the build that I've come up with and give me some suggestions. I'm especially looking for help on what power supply I'll need for this, although I think 1000w should be enough. And any way to save a few bucks here and there would be awesome. The primary purpose of this build is gaming btw.

Looks good, however if you want top of the line, I would wait for the AMD Bulldozer. Also I would recommend swapping the F3 out for a Caviar Black. The GTX 580 is good, but I think a HD 6950 would be better for you. 8GB of RAM may be unnecessary (Depending on what your doing). And the 1000W PSU is only needed if you will be using Crossfire or SLI.

What chart do you have access to that states a 6950 is better than a 580?

Or what do you mean by "better for you"?

He doesn't mention a budget limit, and since he doesn't , how is a 6950 better for him?

Sry forgot to mention that I will be using SLI sometime in the future, when the price drops, and I prefer using NVidia graphics cards. Just my personal preference. Haven't really heard much about the AMD Bulldozer series. Are they really worth the wait?

The Bulldozer will change everything, and it's expected Q2 or Q3. If you will SLI then keep 1000W.
By better for you, I mean it's not always worth it to buy the highest. People who buy Sandy Bridges don't usually utilize them, people who buy 12GB of RAM don't usually utilize it, people who buy the most expensive GPU don't usually utilize it. There is usually always a more suitable option for less.
I use:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850
Gigabyte 880GMA
CM HAF 912
CM Hyper 212+
Samsung 24X DVD Drive
Wifi Card
Corsair 2x2GB DDR3 RAM
Antec TruePower 650W
4 Case Fans
WD Caviar Black 640GB Sata3 HDD

And it maxes out most games at a nice FPS. It only cost me ~$850.
It is just fine for gaming.
You only need to drop over 2K if you need a workstation.

You dont need a 1kW unit, a good 850W unit can handle 2 GTX 580s in SLI with OCing without an issue, you can pick up the XFX 850 for $26 less after shipping and before $20 MIR

I dont think bulldozer is going to shake things up a ton, the sandy bridge CPUs are great performers for their price and that fact wont change once bulldozer arrives so a 2500K build is still going to be great in a couple months.

I would stick with the samsung F3, its a single 500GB platter so its faster than the 500GB caviar black which has 2 250GB platters.

Since you are getting a 2500K, get a HSF to go with it like the Hyper 212+ so you can get some OC out of it and not have to tear the system apart in a couple months to install it.

Whether it be 1000W or 850W, don't take the cheap route, go with Antec or Corsair, Bronze is good, silver and gold are worth it. The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is a very good CPU cooler, and it is inexpensive. As for the Spinpoint, it's totally your call, but I would recommend Western Digital. Hunter is right about the PSU. XFX is a very good brand, and 850W will handle your build. I think the Bulldozer will change the market, however, that won't make the 2500K, and 2600K any worse. The bulldozer is really for enthusiasts only. Your build is very good. You will be maxing out games for a long time. Good luck with your build!

Unlikely. Maybe for AMD enthusiasts.

Also, if you're going to SLI you'll need a different MOBO, like the ASUS P8P67 Pro, which'll add about $15 to the build. If you're not going to SLI definitely drop the wattage. If you're going to spend that much money anyway I recommend adding an SSD as a boot drive, either 40 or 64 gig for $80 to $100.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I didn't realize the MOBO I had chosen only supported crossfire and not SLI. You saved me a major headache. I decided to go with this motherboard instead.

I would canx the ASUS SABERTOOTH and go for the ASUS P8P67 Pro or Deluxe. The pro is $202 and the Deluxe is $229.
