Hello everyone. I need help with my new monitor. It says in the manual that the "most commonly" refresh rates are from 60-85Hz in every resolution. But i can change it to 100Hz in windows. I wounder if the monitor can be damaged if I use 100Hz. if anyone wants to read the manual and help me out here it is ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supporti [...] 86-002.pdf

It is a 21" monitor.

I did go & read your manual. Your monitor doesn't support anything above 85 htz. Under Display Resolutions I only see 85 htz supported. If it's a new monitor I'd wonder why the manual was copy written in 1997?

You should see, like modern monitors, a best res. to run the monitor at. I don't see it with yours. For example I'm running a Viewsonic a90f + that I just bought. It says in it's manual optimum performance is 1280 x 1024 @ 75htz. Your manual says nothing like that.

I'd say you over amping that monitor @ 100 htz.. Best guess I've got after reading your manual.

Sorry it isn't the answer you wanted to here either.

I'm still learning & having fun doing it!! Trouble comes with the things you forget or overlook along the way that make it not so fun!!
