How do I activate integrated graphics?

I've been having problems with my graphics card lately (radeon 5670 - screen goes blank at random and pc has to be reset) And I've organised to have it sent away for testing. I figured I could just rely on the mobo/cpu's integrated graphics for the next week or so.

After I removed the card the computer wouldn't turn on properly! Its appeared to be running be I couldn't get any picture. It beeped twice, then paused and beeped an additional 8 times. I reinserted the card and everything was fine again.

I assumed the integrated graphics would just take over when I plugged the monitor into the mobo's dvi port. Are there settings I have to change in the bios or device manager or something before removing the card, or does my pc just not have integrated graphic at all? (I certainly hope that's not the case, I really don't want to be without my computer while my card is being tested)

system specs are as follows:

PSU: Corsair VX-550 Power Supply
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST31000528AS
MONITOR: BenQ G2420HD 24 Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor
ODD: Samsung SH-S223C SATA DVDRW Drive
GPU: Powercolor Radeon HD5670 1GB
'RAM: Mushkin 996768 Silverline PC3-10666 (2x2GB) DDR3
CPU: Intel Core i5 760
MOBO: ASRock H55M-LE Motherboard
OS: Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium

thanks for your time.
