Are they 100% immune ?

Or it's like the Exotic tech (does not work 100% of the time).

Any other fighters have special immunity ?

--------------------------------
If Energized Sand Inactive or 20% likely if Energized Sand Active
If Evil Empire Wing
Maximum Hits = 1
60% chance Maximum Hits = 0
If Sand Shield Active
Hits = Hits * Rnd
If Robot R27 Raider
Maximum Hits = 5
90% chance Maximum Hits = 0

I don't believe I saw anything about the centaur and sandcasters.

The Cents Ahir does not have SandCaster Immunity, under very old host
versions armor did count more as a protection against SCs. But that is
all...

The RCS Poppy Strike (T3) is immune to Laser mine hits (but still gets
damaged from exploding laser mines).

AFAIR the Sol T2 is immune to enemy fighter missles.

Thanks to both of you.

I just read the centaur guide
http://www.geocities.com/jaheirza/centaurs/centaurs.htm

Playing Against

"Just keep your anti-fighter defenses close. Make use of sandcasters
and anti-fighter PD. Remember that sand-casters are all but useless
versus type 3 fighters! The only thing that takes them down are turbo
lasers. Hope you have some of those :-)"

The above mislead me of thinking they had a special ability to resist
sand caster.

Well I'm happy they don't.

Well you should always take into account that some race guides are old.
And the Cent guide was probably a good start when the race was
released, but while I did play the Cents I did not heed much of the
things written in this guide - I rarely do. And then considering that
at the time I did play Cents I had the SC immunity very early, that
advice was not the worst, eventhough at that time they should have been
mixed with an occasional MML.

Ah... that 70 Armor is mostly useless. >18 is all considered 18 vs
Sandcasters.

0 Armor would result in the destruction of 20% of the wing.
18 Armor reduces that to 2%. So it is quite resistant to Sand Casters.

Is there a check for the attribute of the exposed systems within that
piece of code?

And then that was probably Tims way to try to limit the usefulness of
some high values in some attributes (allthough he has not done that for
weapon ranges). Problem with this is that it can give the players a
totally wrong impression of the fighter usefullness. Preferable would
be IMO to limit the scope of the fighter attributes, and only making in
some rare cases little exceptions, but that would mean a redesign of
most fighter types.

The Sandcaster vs fighter code does not check the exposed system.
The Evasion stat is figured in to the "to hit" chance.

On a successful hit, Armor is used to determine the number of fighters
that are destroyed.
That is a random number from 0% to 2-20% (depending on armor).

Then, if more than 1000 fighters of that type are in the wing, the
number of hits is tripled and 50 is added.

Then the above code comes into play.
EE fighters will never lose more than 1 per type per hit and they have
a better than even chance of having the hit negated anyway.
Sandshields reduce hits by, on average, half, though that can range
from no reduction to total reduction.
Robot fighters (not just Type 3) take reduced losses as well, the Type
3's having an excellent chance of taking 0 losses.

The fighter have only a little chance (5%) to fire their beams when the
target is more than 100km away. Only the missiles have no range limitation.
Although I think the lowered fireing chance for beam weapons is not
something that relevant as the bottellack is usually the energy and not the
chance to fire.

Correct.

I *think* that ECM Box counters the Energized Sand though.

So to say: Energized sand beats the Empire and Robot Sand Caster boni of
their fighters (80% of the hits)

This may be old news, but it was new to me and as its states the
opposite in the Client Exotic Tech screen, so I thought I'd mention it
here.

The Fighter ECM Box does not counter Energized Sand.
