No sound

My mobo decided to crap itself, so I replaced it with one of the same model (M3a78-em). It was used because there aren't any new ones out there. Got it put in and everything works fine except for one thing, the sound. I have tried updating drivers and messing with setting to no avail. I can see that windows can see sound because you can see the visual on the volume slider. I tried front and rear audio ports, different speakers.

What else can I check? Will an external sound card fix this?

Have you tried using a Micro headset with front panel? Try and let me know what you get.

yes. I get no sound what so ever.

What is your speaker configuration set in your System Sounds? Kindly provide a screenshot.

Then click Configure, then test selecting different modes of speaker settings i.e. 5.1, 7.1 etc(no matter how many speakers do you have physically)

I just put a PCI sound card in it. Works fine and has better audio.
