PSU and Case

Hello,
I'm building a computer from scratch and can't decide on a PSU. The other problem is that i don't know if the parts I'm planning on getting will fit in most cases

From what i can tell, the GPU tends to be the problem with case size; as the case won't accommodate the length of the card.

Parts are as follows:

-Sapphire 100312-1GSR Radeon HD 6950 Video Card - 1GB

-Western Digital WD7502AAEX Caviar Black Hard Drive

-Asus DRW-24B1ST 24X Internal DVD Burner

-ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Motherboard - AMD 890GX

-Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 XMS3 4GB DDR3 RAM

-AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition AM3 CPU HDZ965FBGMBOX

Any additional thoughts on the setup/part choices would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you planning to overclock?

Are you planning on Crossfire in the future with 2 video cards?

What's your budget for psu and case?

Unsure as whether or not to overclock, haven't done it before.

No to crossfire.

Case should hopefully be 50-100$, PSU can be 100-150. For the PSU, i'd be willing to spend more if need be though.

The psu requirements are almost entirely determined by the graphics card/s. A 6950 needs a 500W psu with two 6-pin pci-e power connectors:

ATX psu dimensions are standard, differing only a bit in length. They will fit most any case.

My short list of quality psu's would include Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, XFX, and PC P&C.
Here is a good XFX550w unit:

No harm going up to 700-750w if you might ever get a card as strong as a GTX590.

Cases are personal preference.
For gaming, look for one with two 120mm front intake fans to assure adequate airflow.
How about the Antec 300 illusion model?

The HD 6950 is a long video card and will be a tight fit inside an Antec 300 (might even require some hard drive bay manipulation). At a budget, the HAF 912 will fit it properly.

Its a nice case if you can get past its not so appealing (IMO) looks. As for the PSU, the XFX 550 as referenced above is good and plenty bough for the build even considering a highly overclocked processor.
