I've realized recently that my pc at the moment isn't quite up to par and I finally decided that I really need a new one. I don't know a whole lot about components/how to make a good build/etc but my dad is quite good at this sort of thing. He told me that if i get what i want he will help me and show me how to set it up, hook it up etc. I was just wondering if you guys could help me out with a very good setup preferably one that runs amd.
What i don't need is a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
I'm going to be using newegg.com to purchase most of the components.
thanks for the help

You can look at the $1000 build on toms hard ware. im new to building my self. Ive upgraded many computers before and things like that but never built a system from scratch. I have a $2000 build that is pretty stable and ive had people reveiw it. if you tell me what you want in your $1000 build i can try to put something together for you and people can comment on that if they would like

i do have one suggestion however. If your going higher performance and gaming i would go with intel processors. AMD is cheaper but intel is faster on the high end. since your spending $1000 i would go with a more expensive build and are you looking for single or dual Graphics cards? cause dual costs twice as much. and do you have a preference of video cards such as Nvidia cards or ATI radeon. I tend to like Nvidia better because some of the models can overclock better

like i said i really dont know a ton about computers but I'd like the computer to be easily upgradeable, runs windows 7 and if intel processors are the way to go then I could handle that. But the computer is going to be used mainly for gaming but just as good surfing the web and doing homework as it is for gaming

well if your building a computer for gaming NVIDIA has some good video cards. do you want your computer to be upgradeable to put a second video card in it? becuase full SLI boards with the NVIDIA NF 200 chips which basically means that the chipset will allow two cards to operate at their full capacity. cheaper motherboards allow you to operate at half and half capacity.

hmmm. then you should look at the toms hardware builds. they have some stuff on the site about $1000 builds and they have a good setup with an intel processor and two ATI radeon 6850s which should run any game your trying to play on ultra. what games do you play?

because if you want to play things like crisis Warhead or crysis two your either gonna have to learn how to overclock or spend more money on dual cards if you want dual cards. The build that Toms hardware has has dual cards and is still under $1000 dollars

This build includes amazon, newegg, and superbiiz...but when your on a tight budget you want your $$$$ worth right ?

This build allows you to add another one of those factory over clocked gtx 560's later on for SLI.

And what are your reasons for that being a better model ?

^ Before we start arguing.

The DirectCu is 10$ cheaper with the MIR. But also DirectCu's have been solid performers, I don't know about the Gigabyte overclocks, but the DirectCu's aren't bad either. However One thing to say if price was not a HUGE factor. The MSI Twin Frozr is my recommendation. Guru3D did a review and I'm just stunned by the acoustics and overclock ability and well as thermals.
http://guru3d.com/article/msi-n560gtx-ti-twin-frozer-ii-review/

atm the two Gigabyte 560's (SOC & O/C) are the king of the hill so to say in regards to factory over clocked gtx 560's. Those two cards are clocked higher than any of the other 560's on the market. On guru's review of the Gigabyte SOC version it smoked the 570 in more than a few head to head benchmarks. The O/C version of that card isn't far behind it.

I'm not to sure about Gigabyte. But I'm assured that DirectCu's and Twin Frozr II's come with Voltage tweaking. As you know, I like overclocking my cards (5850 Reference w/ 1ghz core clock atm) and that's a deal breaker with good thermals for me :D And acoustic.

your talking factory OC im talking manual. the ASUS comes with the tool to manually OC it to 50% more than its stock capacity whereas the geforce OC to 33% more in the description

nicely OC core :) i want to acheive 1 Ghz. I have air cooling in my system right now which im going to faithfully stay with until I get a second card then i might think about upgrading to water cooling with a custom loop so i can get a better OC on everything
P.S. sorry still double posting :p noob to these forums :p havent started using them since beginning of this week

It could be that I like the ASUS better because ive found they have reliable and stable overclock and they are a lot cooler than standard GTX 560s

you think WC is a joke? I know some people who dont beleive in it. Including me but a quality WC system that will let you OC by an ENOURMOUS margin is like $300 to create a custom loop its a big hassle. what are you OC speeds for CPU ram and GPU?
I was thinking of going WC but its so expensive. it looks cool but do you really need 5 Ghz OC? when your not even going to use it to full capacity even with video editing or 3D model editing. oh whats your system specs as well?

You can do 5.0ghz easily on air with these SB cpu's and still have good temps. They run cooler than any other chips before them. All you need is a decent cpu h/s, and a case with good air flow/ventilation. Now the nubs over at guru3d forums would have you spend hundreds of dollars on a w/c set up for something like a C2D and dual 8800's. I crap you not. Those guys are great for advice on setting up a buchoo dollar w/c set up, but tards when it comes to putting a balanced build up.

As long as you don't have to volt the crap out of a cpu I'm all for o/c. Peeps on this board have been hitting 4.4 -4.5 on stock voltage. That's good enough for me.

do you know if the cooler master hyper 212 comes with the extra fan? its the one im going with since its got some of the best reviews. any suggestions for an even better cooler perhaps? around same price ive got 30 bucks more room for the build lol

It only comes with one fan, but for another $5-$8 you can add an identical one to it for a "push-pull" effect. It's already set up to add another other fan. That cooler will easily take you to 4.6ghz with these SB cpu's.
