Hello users :hello:  , I will be doing a Gaming PC build & it will most likely use the GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H motherboard. My question for you guys/girls is if the Sata cables supplied with this motherboard are Sata 6.0gb/s?(They are light/baby blue) I know that most motherboards that have support for it come with the correct sata 6.0gb/s cables but I have watched a few Unboxing videos of this Board on Youtube & some refer to them as Sata 2(Sata 3.0/gb/s) Cables, and other refer to them as the Sata 3(Sata 6.0gb/s) Cables.

I need to know because the hardrive I will buy is a WD 1TB Cavier Black Sata 6.0gb/s Drive.(I know with normal hardrives sata 6.0gb/s does not make much of a difference but for whatever reason I still want to buy one.)

BELOW ARE THE LINKS TO THE MOTHERBOARD & HD.

MOBO: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681... (or you can search "N82E16813128445" on http://www.newegg.ca/ )
HD: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682... (or you can search "N82E16822136533" on http://www.newegg.ca/ )

Any help is appreciated & thank you for your time, Wheelzz, :)

I have the Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H
It came with 2 Sata cables.
It's not the same model, but very similar.

All Serial ATA cables are the same.
So yes it came with two Sata 6.0GB/s cables.

I can't speak for the Gigabyte but all the Asus boards I have used have definitely come with separately identified SATA II and SATA III cables. The SATA III cables are color coded with white tips and separately identified in the manual to be used for the SATA III connectors.

See white tipped ones here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImag...

Here's what the manual says:

Page 1-1, Package Contents

Quote:
4 x Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s signal cables
4 x Serial ATA 3.0 GB/s cables
2 x Serial ATA 3.0 GB/s power cables

2.28 Paragraph 1 Intel "Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s connectors"

Quote:
These connectors connect to Serial ATA Hard Disk drives via SATA 6GB/s signal cables

2.28 Paragraph 3 Marvel "Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s connectors"

Quote:
These connectors connect to Serial ATA Hard Disk drives via SATA 6GB/s signal cables

Clearly the manufacturer is making a distinction here both in the manual and in the color coding of the cables between the SATA II and SATA III cables.

I don't know whether any significant differences exist between the two cables; it could just be that the white tipped ones have been actually factory tested at SATA III speeds.

A SATA cable is a SATA cable.

So basically its just whether or not the board has support for Sata 6.0gb/s? This board does.

That's correct.
I agree with GeekApproved & JoeAdamsIV. The SATA cables in your MB accessory pack are fully compatible with SATA III devices and the SATA 6.0GB/s ports on your motherboard.
