Hello guys. :D

I am thinking of buying a new graphic card to my computer. But i am not sure about what is best, and what i shoul buy.
I have been looking on Xfx 5850 Black edition 1gb. And i look like a awesome card, and the price i the best, because i maybe will afford to buy two of them some time. But now i only can afford buying one card. I am affraid that the 5000+ series i about to get "Out of date" and it will be stupid to buy it.
I have also been looking on the 5950 but it is a bit more expensive.
So what is best for the price? :D

My com specs are:
Core I7 920 1,67gz CPU
6gb Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
Asus Rampage 2 Gene mother board
750w Energon Powersupply
And my graphiccard now i Asus Nvidia 8600gts

Thank you. :D :D

Get it, the HD5850 is a great card and resembles the HD6850 in many ways. All graphics cards go "out of date" and futureproofing a computer is an invalid cause. Go ahead and get it if you like. Also, you should look into a new PSU. Generic ones aren't too reliable and tend not to last so long after heavy upgrades.

What resolution do you play at, and what is your budget? Also what games do you play? The 5850 is a fantastic card, but we won't know if it is right for you untill we know more.

Well in that case, thats a good card and thats the cheapest I could find of that. So would you rather spend 200 Euros or 270? I can help you find a card in either category.

You can also unlock a 6950 to a 6970, and a 6950 is slight better than even a 5870 as it is. The 1GB version of the 6950 should be out there soon which should also be much cheaper, I couldn't find one on those sites though, I was havn't a tough time navigating haha.

Oh I lied! I found one, but its not much cheaper to be honest.

Here is a benchmark you can look at! Note that benchmark is the 2GB version of the 6950, not 1GB.

Ahh, I didn't realize how much cheaper the 5850 was there being that it is SO much cheaper it is probably a better card for you.

if it's around 200~270 euro you should go for sparkle's gtx 570 or galaxy's gtx 560 ti. or xfx 6850 CF

The GTX 560's run fast, quiet, and cool. Gigabyte in particular has one of the quieter cards available. It will also give you PhysX, better drivers, and really, really good overclocking potential (1000+ mhz). With your X58 motherboard, you can do SLI with two cards for top of the line performance, that stays cool and quiet with excellent scaling.

A review of the Gigabyte SOC (1000mhz clock):

And a review of the Asus GTX560 clocked at 900mhz, like the Gigabyte you mentioned, compare it to the 6950 if you are still unsure:

gtx 560 will eat 5850 alive in both dx9/10 and dx11 tessellation. but why get these two when you can get 6850 CF or gtx 570 for much better performance?

Easily the GTX560. It will comfortably outperform the 5850 in all benchmarks, and do it quieter and cooler (check the Asus GTX560 @ 900mhz review above). If you are wanting to make sure that you are ready for upcoming DirectX 11 games, then the GTX560 performs DirectX 11 tesselation much, much better than the 5850. Between these two options, there is no question which is better.

The point of referring to the Asus review is that it is clocked at 900mhz like your Gigabyte is, so both will have almost identical performance.

Whilst the websites are available it's not much good if they don't ship to the country that you're in.
