Hi everyone, I'm new here... Looking to upgrade from a Core2Quad 9550 w/ 4GB ram to something with a bit more power for building (full OS builds of Android). Current home machine takes about 1.5-2 hr to build a clean system, but my 8 core Mac Pro 2008 at work can do it in about 35 minutes. If I can beat 35 minutes, that would be great! Already have the case, PSU, a Crucual C300 SSD as well as a Vertex2 SSD, and plenty of HD space.

Basically, I'm trying to decide whether to just bite the bullet and get either
A) i7-970
B) Xeon X5650 w/ possibility of adding a 2nd one at a later date
C) 2x quad-core Xeon
C) Wait for 6-core or server Sandy Bridge parts

I'm thinking something in the 24GB range for RAM.

Approximate Purchase Date: 0-2 weeks

Budget Range: $2500, don't care for rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Coding & compiling, occasional gaming

Parts Not Required: Case (have CoolerMaster HAF-X), PSU (haveCOOLMAX CUG-700B) , HDD, SSD, keyboard, mouse, monitor, OS

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon, Newegg

Country of Origin: USA

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: Intel, NVIDIA

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe SLI

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, 1920x1200 - probably x2 within a month.

Additional Comments:

With a big budget and CPU intensive machine i opt for this option
C) Wait for 6-core or server Sandy Bridge parts
Before that (31st May-Mid June) we would see Zambezi and the 8 core variant (FX 8K) with unlocked multi may just be worth the wait for rigs like yours hehe
