On board video issue

Last response: in Motherboards

Hey all I have a Gigabyte GA-A75M-S2V

I am having a heck of a time getting the on-board video to work... When I use a video card I am fine. When I shut the PC down. pull the card and try to boot with the on-board I get nothing... pc starts and acts like it is running but I don't even get the bios screen.

tried clearing cmos, set bios back to defaults.. still nothing... any ideas? an added bit is I have 2 new boards doing the same so I know i am missing something simple...

More about : board video issue

actually I just got a answer from Gigabyte and they sent me the list of processors that the board supports.... not a one of them support on board graphics... DOH!!!! so the on board is basically useless :/

All of the A and E chips have integrated graphics. It's not on-board, it's on die because it's built into the CPU chip instead of the motherboard. The Athlons and Semprons don't have integrated graphics.

If the A and E chips don't work right on your board, then it's probably a BIOS setting problem or the board and/or CPU's IGP is defective.

EDIT: You might need to update your BIOS. If you have a version too old for your CPU then it might not function properly. What CPU do you have?

No problem, just come on by to say if you can get it working after a BIOS update and/or settings change. If it still doesn't work, well then you might have defects that need RMAing or something similar.
