Right-click on the battery symbol in the Task Bar (lower right of the
screen) then enter the Energy menu. Under 'Advanced' you'll find different
settings, for example what happens if you press the 'sleep' key. Among
others you will find a setting for what happens if you close the display.
This works with my Aspire but should also work for your Travelmate.

But the problem is to power on the pc with the monitor down not when i
put down the monitor!
Try to explain: my pc is off, i need to press the power button and
start the pc with the close monitor!
But the laptop doesn't start?
why? I look fot in the bios but i didn't find anything?

Usually the top of the laptop has a pus button switch near the
hinges which puts the laptop in Standby when you close the cover.
When you are attached to a docking station, that switch is ignored.
Other laptops have the power switch inside so that you cannot turn
them on when the display is closed.
