Edited for more details

Situation: Upgrading the core of my system. Looking to buy in the next week, with 500-800 USD towards it. The build is gaming focused and will likely be slightly OC'd.

Will be reusing an Antec Solo case, Corsair TX750W, Creative X-fi ExtremeGamer, WesternDigital 640GB 7.2kRPM along with an Nvidia 470GTX.

Ok, here's what I'm looking at. Opinions are welcome. I'm looking at

Two questions. A 1366 Mobo works with a 1155 CPU, correct?
Second, I want to get a SSD, but have never set up a RAID. Provided the above setup works, what would I need to make an older SATA work with this

All boards support turbo boost that done on the processor not the motherboard, I think Gigabyte still uses the BIOS while Asus and some other brands use UEFI

An additional question I'd forgotten. After reading the detail on the mobo, I was unable to see anything indicating it used UEFI over BIOS. Is this a standard now, or something I should look for and am not seeing(possibly because the mobo isn't using it).

Are you getting more that one SSD? If not, RAID has nothing to do with the setup of a single SSD. :D

SATA II devices are downwardly compatible with SATA I, they will just slow down to the SATA I speed.(not really an issue as SATA I hasn't been saturated yet.) :bounce:

Ok, I updated the OP with what I'm looking at now. I guess a 1156 mobo and a 1155 CPU will get along just fine. Still wondering about UEFI though.

As far as the storage setup, I guess I was just had the idea that two drives(of any type) means you'll be setting up a RAID. My storage will just be the HDD listed along with the linked SSD I intend to buy.

Any compatibility issues with what I have here?

Still big problems! You can't mix an 1156 Mobo with a 1155 CPU. :non:
All RAID does is make multiple physical disks look like 1 logical disk, increasing capacity or speed or redundancy depending on which type RAID you set up. :bounce:

Check this thread about UEFI:

Good luck!

Ah, thanks for the guidance. I saw that the board I linked was i5 friendly and made a bad assumption I guess. The challenge now is to find an 1155 board that uses the B3 stepping, has USB 3.0, supports UEFI, and hopefully supports Turbo boost.

Newegg is failing me, time to check around I guess, unless anyone has a recommendation.
