Memory and Windows 7 64-bit OS

Hi and Happy New Year,

I can't seem to get my Asus P5B Deluxe Bios to recognize the 4th gig of memory I've installed. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit does report 4 gigs but says 3 gigs usable in parenthesis. Can I configure my computer to USE the 4 gigs (4 1gb Corsair XMS2 Extreme PC6400, 800mhz, 4-4-4-12

Thanks,
Richard

  2. Hi The_Prophecy, Actually I had tried your suggestion earlier but, unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. Further investigation revealed that the issue involved the bios setting for the "northbridge". I had to change it to allow for memory remapping and that fixed it. Windows now reports 4 gigs instead of "4 gigs (3 gigs usable)".
  3. Glad to hear you figured it out!
