Newly built pc not booting

Hello,
It will boot for 3 secs then turns off. Have nothing else installed but CPU, cpufan and one blok of ram. No beebs

Yes the board and CPU are compatible. Asus p8z68v lx and intel i5 2320.
I have tried seating the ram in other slots to no avail. I have also changed the ram module.
There is light on the boars = power
Psu = 500 watt

Remove the cooler and CPU. Re-seat the CPU and make sure the cooler is fixed properly.

If that doesn't work then, separate all the components and take out the motherboard so that it will drain kind of static electricity in the components. Now rebuild it and try booting.
