I'm not too keen on computer hardware and I had been considering buying a new graphics card. I was really interested in the XFX Radeon HD 5830 and was wondering if it would work on my pc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My Specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz
DDR2 4 GB RAM
500 Watt Power Supply

The card I'm looking at buying:

My power supply:

My Motherboard (not sure if this is relevant):

Spend a little more money and get a decent power supply in my opinion, that is the one and only part in your computer you should spend a little extra cash on. However, yes 500w would be enough for a 5830.

Like this.

Also, if you do not mind rebates, this card is only ten dollars more and is quite a nice bit better.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. I looked at that graphics card you suggested, would that for sure work with the power supply I have? If so, I'll definitely purchase it.

Yes what he suggested will work and it will last much much longer than the off brand you were looking at.

It would work with the powersupply I suggested. I have no idea if it will work on your generic one. Kind of taking a shot in the dark there. You have enough watts and amps to run it, but the quality of that PSU is unkown and anything can happen.

Thanks a ton! If I have any problem with the card I'll take a look at that power supply you mentioned.
