Hello,

I am torn between and intel or amd build at the moment. Intel processors are generaly more expensive, so I would like to know which one would be more suited to my needs. My primary computer use will be for gaming and I want it to be as 'future proof' as possible. For example I would rather spend a bit more now than having to replace the entire system in 2 years. My monitor res is 1680 X 1050.

I have my eye on these components:

Radeon HD 6950 2GB (if there is a better card at a similar price [$250] please alert me)
Intel intel core i5-2500k ($220) or AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition ($170)
I have no idea if the $50 is worth it between the two processors
Also I have no idea about a good mother board to use with the core I5 (if that turns out to be the better option)

Oh and is it worth it spending $200 on a 120GB SSD or should I just spend $70 on a 1.5TB HDD?

Thanks in advance

Since peeps been waiting this long for the top end i suggest for healthier/fatter budgets to
1. Await Z68 chipsets, Zambezi AM3+ on platform front
2. Await HD 6990/GTX 590 on the GPU front and act as catalyst price revisions trickle down lower down the foodchain
3. Await the Sandforce SATA 6GB/s SSDs to hit retailers :p
