NOT PCI-e, no the hardware cant be exchanged.

It looks like you can get a Raedon HD4350 with PCI.

Is there anything else available?

There is the Matrox P690 plus LP, but cant find any game perfomance reviews (bad sign)

Peeps this is serious, I have a 3Ghz IBM with NO AGP, and 1 PCI slot

It's better than any 3D card made before 2002 but that's not saying much. Use PCIe 5450 as your baseline. Performance won't be better and is probably worse. There hasn't been a high-end PCI card since TNT2/Rage128 in 1999. AGP became standard in 1997.

Paulwratt's 9500GT suggestion should be faster than a 5450. They still won't play modern games very well.

so atm the best ati card only has 512Mb or memory.. but it is a dx11 card

HIS H545H512P Radeon HD 5450 Silence 512MB 64-bit DDR3 PCI

I'm still looking for a GTX9600 or better

This machine is primarily a linux box, so drivers are an issue as well, which is why the Raedeon is looking slightly better

Hell, both the 9500 GT & the HD 5450 are under a hundred bucks, even a student could affor both of them..:)

Thanks for that link btw
