More about best socket
  1. Probably a Phenom 1 X3 like the one here:

However I would check to see if your mobo would support AM3 since it is the same as socket AM2. Most Am2+ boards can take an AM3, but check with your mobo manufacturer.

according to that CPU support list (http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1127&CategoryID=1&MenuID=20&LanID=0) a Phenom II 840 would be your best upgrade, a phenom II840 is basically an Athlon II 650 but it would still be a fantastic quad core upgrade.

if you live in the US then here it is:

use promo code HARDOCPX7X6C to get $10 off!

    but that cpu is 95w
i thought that mobo could only use 89w and lower?
