I'm starting my first build based on parts I picked from a recent article here.

Is there a good guide that describes what order to install components?

Maybe the case has an esata port and the sata cable would be to connect it to your motherboard.

The case does not have an esata port. The cable originates in the drive bay area. There is also a 4 pin power connector coming out of the same area.

Maybe it's one of those HDD hot-swap bays like the one a CM690 II Advanced has

Between your case manual and your MoBo manual, you should easily be able to collect all the info you need.

For example, the installation guide and MoBo manual here gives ya just about all ya need to now to complete a build using the Asus WS revolution

It does not mention the cable. But it says additional CP05 adapters can be purchased to make all SATA drives hot-swappable. I guess that implies the SATA cable is for hot-swapping like TheDuke suggested.
