pentium d 930 vs pentium dual core e2140 i got the dual core core processor from my friend for free as he changet to i5 im currently using pentium d 930 i dont know whether to change the processor or not ..if pentium d 930 is more powerful than dual core e2140 then i wont change the processor and one doubt i want to know if at all i change the processor can i use the same fan...

The Pentium Dual Core 2140 is a better CPU. Even though it runs at a slower stock speed, it hass better IPC. Look at this:

The Pentium D 930 is at 3GHz while the Pentium Dual Core E2140 is at 1.6GHz, almost half the clock speed, and in pretty much every test they put them through, it matches or beats the Pentium D 930.

The only place that the Pentium D 930 wins is in synthetic benchmarks which never relay over to real world.

The Pentium DC E2140 is the better one to go with. Plus you can easily overclock it to 2GHz and then it would really plow the crap out of the Pentium D 930.

if i replace pentium d with dual core will i have to chage the fan or not
