I recently ordered a RAM upgrade for my Acer Aspire 5560G Sb468 laptop off Newegg. I was planning to upgrade to a G.SKILL 1333 MHz module once it went on sale; but I saw a 1600 MHz 8gb laptop memory module on sale in one of Newegg's exclusive e-mail deals today so I decided to order that one.

G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ ($35.99 w/ promo code)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231472

CPU/chipset specifications: AMD A-Series quad-core processor A6-3400M (4 MB L2 cache, 1.40 GHz with Turbo CORE Technology up to 2.30 GHz, DDR3 1333 MHz, 35 W

RAM type for Acer Aspire 5560G is 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM

Acer support wasn't really helpful in determine this, but I'm wondering if I would be able to run it at 1600 MHz or if I would have to go into BIOS and set it to run at 1333 MHz.

The max bandwidth for the laptop is PC3-10600 (CPU-Z), 667 MHz, x2 = 1333 MHz. I can set it to run at 1333 MHz through BIOS, right?

thanks!

Solution
It will throttle itself down to 1333 but 'can' run at 1600 if it was OCed for your system. Don't worry about it. I have 1600 RAM on my i3-2100 and never made a change in any BIOS setting :)
