Totally Confused Pls help

I am utterly confused in going for PC or XBOX 360 Slim 250GB.Well I am on a limited budget of 600$ and particularly leaned towards AMD for PC.I will purchase the PC or console as per your advise in nearly a weeks time.My friend has been really annoying and telling me to go for a PS3 since its cell processors are stronger than the i7 2xxx , i7 980x as per his statement and PS3 is more powerful than any PC's in the market.I have really been pissed off by this statement from him. 1. Well your gaming rig looks good, if your enthusiastic about computers then go with the PC but do remember that you'll have to pay membership for your xbox so it might end up being more expensive.
  2. Advantages of consoles: simplicity, plug and play. So, if you want this, you may stick with console.
Also show your friend this link to educate him/her about power of PCs and consoles.
  3. Some what dated (Dec 2008): BUT CPUs and GPUs are even better than 2008.
. In what will come as no surprise, the PC shames both consoles in the image-quality comparison. Everything from the textures to the antialiasing to the reflections looks better on the PC. Foliage, piping, and far-off buildings look far superior on the PC due to transparency antialiasing effects. Even draw distance is better on the PC, as the rocks and a fence near the burned-out bus aren't even visible on the consoles.

There is one that is more recent and favors the PS3 (I think it is Biased) Read the Comments!!!

Again dated, uses the Older GTX280 GPU.
Here is a comparison between a PC (GeForce GTX 280 + quad-core Intel Core 2 CPU), a XBox 360 and a Playstation 3. The following games have been used: Fallout 3, Dead Space, Call of Duty: World at War and Grand Theft Auto IV. From this test, the PC is definitely the best gaming platform as you can see on all screenshots: high resolution, high quality textures, lighting, etc.

On forums - If Game box, game box wins, if a PC forum, PC wins. Above link should be less biased and PC wins.

Couple that with the fact that you can always upgrade to a BETTER GPU, or xfire/SLI a lower end (Cost) GPU and leave the gaming consoles in the dust.
  4. thnx retired cheif i am going for pc after that review from yours really helpful
  5. Hope my links provide you with a "Come back" response for your Friend.

Also, PCs are more versatile - more bangs per buck.
  6. These days, even midrange PC leaves a console in the dust. I can max out the original Crysis on my Athlon X4 630 and GTX460 768MB at 1680x1050 (without AA mind you). Oblivion (+Knights of the 9 + Shivering Isles +Quarl texture pack +OOO) I play with Q16AA+4XSS AA forced.
  7. CHECK THIS OUT! A list of games and resolutions rendered on consoles!!!
  8. just a note, now that you are committed to PC:
You can build a PC tower for $600 that will connect to your HDTV and put every console to shame. My signature will get you a PC for $590-ish, if you add 2 extra fans. Its also a more powerful CPU than any AMD out right now
