Hello,

I made my pc while ago, and it was time to put some more ram in it (originally 3 x2gb ddr3 1600 corsair dominator.
I have a i7 920 (d0) with
p6t deluxe v2 motherboard, windows 7 64 home, and bought myself 3 x 4gb ddr3 1600 corsair vengeance.
Now, what should i do, just add the new ram and loose the old (= total 12 gb / 3 dimms), or keep the old (total 18 gb / 6 dimms)
I know windows 7 home has a max of 16 gb, so the latter option will be 16gb / 5 dimms, if that's possible (didn't test that yet)
The timings and voltages (dominator = 8-8-8-24 at 1.65v / vengeance = 9-9-9-24 at 1.50v), are they gonna mess things up? Or should i use the lower/ slower values for all?
Another question is, if i select the xmp profile in the bios, does that mean it loads the specific xmp profile for that memory in that slot, so the different ram memorys would have different timings accordingly or does it load one profile, for all 6 modules in the dimm slots, regardless the kind of memory?
I just started oc-ing my system a little bit, u guys have already been of a tremendous help.
Thanks.

So i will be better off with my 12bg ram then the 16 mixed?
Next thing, if i change my baseclock to 160 (from 133), i only get the options 1282 and 1604 mhz for my memory, should i use the 1282 option, can it hurt to use the 1604 mhz option (while my memory is only 1600) or should i change the baseclock to get closer to 1600 mhz?
I'm reading too much on this forum lately :pt1cable:

I installed the 3x4 gb and threw away :kaola: the 3x2gb. I tested them all together, on the lower voltage (1.50v) and they seemed to work allright, but this seems safer to me.
I first wanted to use the xmp profile, but that way i couldn't change my baseclock (ffcourse :sarcastic: ), so i entered everything manualy. Since i'm just testing my system , i didn't wan't to raise my baseclock more at the moment, and was a littlebit scared putting my Dram to 1604, but i also did find the 1282 too low, so i adjusted the baseclock to 159, so i now have my Dram slightly under 1600mhz. I hope that doesn't crash anything :wahoo:
