Hello, I have a HP a6650f AMD Phenom X4. I am looking to upgrade the video card and PSU. The rest of the computer is pretty good. I was looking at the GeForce 550 Ti, but since the power requirement is at least 400W and the current one is 300W, I decided to research and I found the Corsair 500W CX500 Builder Series. I just wanted to check with the experts to make sure this setup will work. Thanks!

if seems your motherboard does have PCI-e.
everything would work no problem, the CX500 would be a bit of overkill so you are definitly fine. Actually a CX430 should handle everything no problem if you want to save a few dollars.

Thanks, I researched some more and found a cheaper 500W Cool Master at Newegg.com so I am going to go with that one but I do want the 500 W in case I decide to upgrade later. One downside about my mobo is that it doesn't have a PCI E x2 slot so the graphics card will run a bit slower. Am I correct?

you don't need a x2 slot, you need a x8 or x16 slot. a x2 slot would make your card run a LOT slower.
Don't go with the coolermaster PSU, CM might be a reputable computer case brand, but they make mediocre PSUs. If you want more head room, get CX500, if you want to save money, get CX430. Try to avoid the CM.
