Hi,

Currently I have a comp I built about 2 and a half years ago.

Core 2 Duo e8400 @3.6ghz
4 gigs or ram (thinking of getting 2 more)
GTX 260 OC (originally had an 8800GT)
550 watt corsair PSU

So since I didn't need to build a new comp for crysis 2 im having a hard time justifying a whole new machine. Im thinking about maybe getting a Core 2 quad, and a 570 or whatever is in that price range when I upgrade. (Hopefully by Battlefield 3 for DX11).

Im guessing the core 2 duo will be a bottlekneck with the lack of cores and better multi core support these days. This is the mobo I have, im thinking it will be ok with a quad and a 570 like card (by ok I mean good enough to keep me goin another year without a whole new setup)

What do you think? Any opinions of people with C2ds or c2qs in particular would be great (especially if you have a dx11 card :D )

Thanks guys!

For a game like BC2 and therefore BF3 only the Core 2 E8400 was able to not be too much of a bottleneck, almost every other dual core limited your framerate to <35.

Core 2 Quads stand up very well in gaming to more modern processors like i7 and sandy bridge and will most certainly be worth upgrading to.

If you want to buy a 570 then i7 will go perfectly with it.
I personally have a core 2 duo E7500 and it goes well with my 9800 GT.
I just want to say that If you want the best a 570 can give then u need an i7.
otherwise if you want to buy Core 2 Quad then I think u should buy a 470 or keep ur 260 ONLY If you want the best your graphics card can give otherwise there is no problem if u get a 570 and a C2Q.
