Everybody is going to have a diff idea of what the "right motherboard" is.

What is your budget, do you plan sli/xfire?

The mobo really doesn't effect gaming performance but lets say a mobo doesn't have sata 6/gps your computer wont performance as well in games. I do think it would be smart to get cross-fire, or SLI because games are gonna keep on becoming more demanding, and SLI will allow you to keep up with the fastest, and greatest games. Also I7-2600K does not use triple channel memory so unless you want to buy 8 gigs dual channel, and just buy a 4 gig stick of RAM you can't have 12 gigs. (plus no apps, or games these days uses more than 4 gigs I would recommend getting 8 gigs now, and in a like 2 years pick up 8 more gigs of RAM, and you will be set!
