I am trying to build a QUIET high performance system ( for work / gaming ). I initially planned to get a HD6950 or GTX 560 Ti , but i'm not sure about the noise... I started looking into fanless gpu cards and there arent that many...

The performance of the card alone is pretty bad but what about in crossfire, would it be comparable to the cards above ?

Or any alternative ( with fan ) you'd recommend for a quiet build ?

Thx !

I'll tell you right now GTX 560Ti is not quiet, I've already bench'd 3 of them, EVGA, ASUS, and Gigabyte's and they are not quiet even 1/4 load. HD 6950's I'm not sure, but I would not bet a wooden nickel that they aren't quiet either.

XFire'd 5750's will play games very well, imho.

What about the XFX Black Edition 6870 reviewed on Anandtech (Review, Newegg). They said it was one of the quietest cards they ever reviewed. It didn't even make it above their noise floor at load.

It'll give you similar performance to a 5870 with less noise and lower power consumption. Plus you'll have the simplicity of a single card setup and the option to crossfire later if you need more power.

Just my 2 cents.
