Gaming motherboard

hi guys! i am building a gaming computer with (hopefully) the following:

8gb of ram
500 gb hdd
i5 2500k
radeon 6850 (or 6870)
lexa-s case
750w psu


i was wondering what motherboard you all recommend for gaming. i am looking at a ASrock z-68 extreme3 gen3 lga motherboard. it is 129 bucks at newegg. just wondering what you guys thought of it, or if i should get a completely different one. thanks!

ASRock is the best for price/performance, but it depends on what you want to do. SLI or Xfire? Home server? What OEM for PSU or case? What RAM what HDD?

Tom's stated in one article,

Motherboards don't give you better performance, they give you more features and overclocking headroom.

So the ASRock Extreme3 will do fine if you're using a basic setup.
