Approximate Purchase Date: Sometime May

Budget Range: $1700 CAD

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming>all :D

Parts Not Required: keyboard, monitor, mouse

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.ca, http://www.memoryexpress.com/

Country of Origin: Canada

Parts Preferences: Set on 2500k..that's about it

Overclocking: None

SLI or Crossfire: very unlikely.. not an economical option for me

Monitor Resolution: Only 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I live in Canada, so please use newegg.ca or memoryexpress.com for reference. I will be using this rig mainly for gaming. Watching movies and internet browsing will be secondary. No OC for me. SLi/Xfire is a no go.

Here is a prelim build I have:

Case
Cooler Master HAF X Tower Case
$179.99
I want a big big case with excellent cooling. Don't mind the noise. This looks like a great option, but open to suggestions.

GPU
eVGA GeForce GTX 570 SuperClocked 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI
$369.99
I am looking for the best GPU for running games at 1920x1080, nothing higher. Between this and the 5979 I read that both are excellent options.

PSU
CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W
$159.99
Not going to run SLi/Xfire. 750W should be enough for a GTX570 right?

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 w/ Dual DDR3 2133, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, CrossFireX / SLI
$184.99
Really unsure about this decision. I need one with optical out and USB 3.0. I won't be OCing so I don't need a really expensive motherboard. But I want one that will support Sli just in case I change my mind.

CPU
Intel Core™ i5-2500K Processor, 3.30GHz w/ 6MB Cache
$214.99
Pretty much set on this. If I'm not OCing is a 3rd party CPU cooler needed???

Memory
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
$97.99
Looks like a good choice based on the newegg recommendations.

SSD
Patriot Inferno Solid State Drive, 2.5in SATA II, 60GB
$129.99
Unsure about this choice, don't know much about SSDs. Will be using just for OS.

HDD
Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black 7200rpm SATA II w/ 32MB Cache
$89.99
Unsure about this.

Cooling
Asus DRW-24B1ST 24x DVD-RW Drive, SATA, Black, OEM
$20.99
Just need something that can read/burn DVDs.

Cooler Master 200mm Red LED Fan
$19.99
For extra cooling

TOTAL: $1472.90 so I do have some leeway for my $1700 budget.

Do all my parts work with the mobo? Do you recommend any extra cooling??

Thanks!

Actually it looks pretty solid. I would suggest a ~120GB SSD drive, as you will be spoiled by how fast stuff loads and want to put more on it. I have most of the components you are listing on my LAN Gamer rig (see Sig line)

Suggest one of these Sandforce based SSD's

G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series FM-25S2S-120GBSR 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231415
$229.99 CAD

Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe MKNSSDCL120GB-DX 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226152
$234.99 CAD

Corsair Force CSSD-F115GB2-BRKT-A 2.5" 115GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233160
$217.99

Also since you are not OC'ing the ram 1600mhz ram will only run at 1333 without tweaking in the Bios (the default for the Cougar Point chipset and SB). I suggest using 1333mhz ram with a faster Latency.

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231440
$102.99

I think I may actually OC after doing some reading. I think the hyper 212 will be a good cooler. Since Im OCing should I stick with my ram? which one do you suggest?
Also should I wait for the c400? what benefits does it have?
Will I need a new mobo if Im ocing? thanks

I like the ASUS boards AutoTune OC utility. it does everything for you to do a moderate OC.
ASUS P8P67 Pro
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX32596(ME).aspx
its the same price and is SLI/Xfire also.

RAM, go with these for a P67 MB and OCing
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

I if you just have mad money to throw at new Tech then wait for the C400 or the SF2000's otherwise I would just go with one on the SSD's I suggested above. The performance increase is significant with the 6G models, but for the $ I don't think its worth it.

the problem with a ~60GB drive is that formatted its 55GB after you load win 7 and other system software you only have about 25G left. here are my recommendations. I put a 90GB Corsair Force on the bottom in case you can go with a little more $.

Patriot Inferno PI60GS25SSDR 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220511
$150

Corsair Force Series CSSD-F60GB2-BRKT 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233124
$125

Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe MKNSSDCL60GB-DX 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226151
$135

Corsair Force CSSD-F90GB2-BRKT 2.5" 90GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233149
