I have the zalman cnps 7700 cu with the 1155 adapter base, so it can fit my cpu. The zalman site does not say wether this will work on a quad core it only lists dual core. Will it work with the intel i4-2600 quad?

Solution
i4? :)

The 7700 is quite an old cooler now - I can remember using them quite a long time ago. I suspect that's why it only lists dual core CPUs.

It will probably work, but I'd be reluctant to over-clock using it.

Something like a Noctua D14 would be my first choice to cool an i7 2600K.

Oop's I meant I7 blame it on lack of attention on my part.
Thank you for such a quick reply CompulsiveBuilder, I guess I am just cheaping out on this build.
I know there are far superior coolers available, I just wanted to reuse this zalman to replace the stock hs.
I dont overclock for fear of damaging the computer, its a 3.4 to 3.8 with boost which is good enough for me.
If I can safely reuse this zalman I will, I think (hope) it will offer a little bit better cooling than stock hs, ?.
Again Thank you for such a quick reply.
