Computer glitches when i use nvidia

Have a Geforce 5200 fx video card. I have Nvidia as my driver and when I turn the driver on my computer freezes up and the screen goes blank. I've tried re-installing the driver and can't figure it out. Right now i have the driver turned off so i can use my computer but would like to run Nvidia for better quality..
