in a small home/office network, (I have the host and one client pc) .... is the client pc gonna experience slower internet? I dunno....maybe it was just my imagination .. because it seemed to be the case based on my experience.

also, does the length of the LAN cable have an impact on lag? (like, if the LAN cable is longer, will I experience slower internet if I had otherwise had a shorter cable?

If another comptuer starts downloading while the other is downloading they will both balance out and be equally slow. If only one is downloading and the other is idle it will get all the bandwidth, and vis versa.
You will only get major problems due to length at around 100 meters. You will likely start experiencing a little packet dropping somewhere between 100-200ft depending on conditions around the cable.
