Hi .. i have an old P5e3 (not P5e3 pro.. just P5e3) and i want to buy some RAM ..
The problem is i don't know if my motherboard supports 4Gb modules or not .. I looked everywhere .. some people say it does others say it doesn't so i am a bit confused, especially since on http://www.corsair.com/learn_n_explore/ in the compatibility list there are a few 8Gb RAM 2x4Gb kits and the recommended memory is 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 (Dominator-8-8-8-24*1.65v) Dual Channel and it does specify that my motherboard has Chipset » Intel X38 Express (DDR3) but it also says my motherboard supports up to 16Gb RAM witch i don't think is true (i think they are confusing the P5e3 with the P5e3 Pro or P5e3 Premium witch have a x48 Chipset).
So if anyone tried to use 4Gb Ram module on p5e3 x38 Chipset please let me know and if u can make any suggestions regarding what memory i could buy that would be most Welcomed
A few weeks ago i was looking at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145261&Tpk=CMX8GX3M4A1600C9 (4x2Gb Ram)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145263&Tpk=CMX4GX3M2A1600C8 x2(4x2Gb Ram)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145299&Tpk=CMX4GX3M2A1333C8 x2(4x2Gb Ram)
now im not so sure after seeing that compatibility list on corsair, i can't afford to buy another Motherboard, i just changed my Gpu R.I.P. HD 4870x2 (HELL of a GPU I bought it in 2008 December and i could still play any game full detail 1920x1080 in 2012)
(CPU=Intel Q9550/GPU=Radeon Sapphire HD7950 OC)
