I installed the cpu, but had to remove the heatsink that came with it. Upon removing it, the pre-applied thermal paste adhered to the chip, bending three of the pins and breaking one. I managed to straighten all of the rest and replace the broken pin by taking of an old pin from a Sempron CPU and placing it in the hole where it would have gone in the mobo. When I booted it up, it seems it should work because the power indicator was white rather than amber or blinking amber, or blinking amber and beeping. So my question is, did I F up my cpu that much or did I ruin my mobo with all of the back and forth trying to get the cpu installed properly. I always grounded myself on the metal.
Thanks

Yep, I hoped it wasn't essential, but it was. It just gave me an amber power indicator. I stuck some copper wire from an Ethernet cable and then a pin from another proc, but the furthest I've gotten was a white (good) indicator, but nothing else worked. It didn't boot.
