Buy a i5-2500k without heatsink and fan?

I wanna buy a separate heatsink and fan, do you know anywhere I can buy just the chip?

You would need to find an OEM version of it, but most versions out there are the retail ones which come complete with the heatsink and fan, i havent seen any OEM specific sandy bridge CPUs.

Retail version has a three year warranty, bare version is thirty days I think. Cooler adds about $5-$10 to cost, depending who you listen to.

I used to have an entire drawer filled with unused Intel coolers - I always thought I could use one if my third party cooler failed. Fact is, I never had a third party cooler fail, so the drawer got more and more full. These days I give them away or recycle them.

Get the retail, 3 year warrenty worth the extra few quid and then stick a hyper212+ on it.

Like everybody else said, I'd go with the retail, get the warranty and support and then drop $30 on a zigmatek Gaia.

I bought the retail along with a CoolerMaster V6GT and I keep the stock cooler aside for that "just-in-case" moment.

Corsair H50.. if high end Air is your desire with near silence , Noctua makes some excellent coolers.
If cheaper is your aim, Coolermaster and Artic Cooling are decentI believe Frostytech still love the Thermaltake Frio,
